Rzeszów, one of the most rapidly developing cities in Poland, has reached the year 2022 with a unique cultural institution. Its main attraction is the Rzeszów Cellars, an extraordinary exhibition presenting the cultural and historical heritage of the capital of the Subcarpathian Voivodeship and the entire region in an original form.
The Rzeszów Cellars, located under the city's Market Square, is a network of several dozen cellars and chambers interconnected by corridors. Inside them lies an unconventional and innovative story about the history of the city and the region.
The tour is available in 2 variants. ‘Interactive Legend’ is a multisensory sightseeing path, in which visitors transform from ‘passive’ participants in the narrative into ‘active’ characters of the story: they form a team which, together with the help of a guide, tries to solve the tasks facing them – to finally discover the treasure of Rzeszów. On the other hand, ‘Images of History’ is intended for visitors who appreciate the traditional way of sightseeing. This variant offers an in-depth historical knowledge of the city and the interiors which house the Rzeszów Cellars.
The underground location of the exhibition, the spaces subject to conservation restrictions, the creation of climatic conditions for optimum equipment requirements, the wide range of exhibition resources – all this made the Rzeszów project one of the most complex and interdisciplinary exhibitions we have created.
