Venue: Necker Island, British Virgin Islands
Established in the year: 2012
Dimension: 300 000 sq.m.
Investor: Virgin Group
Scope of work: redesigning of the energy supply system on Necker Island
Today islands often face difficulties in energy supply. Thousands of gallons of oil are burned every day - all in order to ensure energy stability. In 2012, following the spirit of the times and ecology, Sir Richard Branson, owner of Necker Island, commissioned for an offer for the replacement energy sources. ART FM has prepared an innovative project based on three values - aesthetics, ecology and efficiency.
The first phase involves placing solar panels inside the caldera of the artificial volcano - so they will be hidden from the eyes of guests visiting the exclusive resort. This will allow to enjoy the serenity of the surroundings and proximity of nature.
Wind energy will be used in the second phase. This hybrid system will satisfy the demand for electricity on the island up to 70 percent.
