Location: Sulejówek, Poland
Year: 2015
Size: 1400 m²
Investor: The Józef Piłsudski Museum
Scope: the idea, narrative scenario, interior and exhibition design, designs of installations and interactive stations, visual identity design.
Józef Piłsudski is one of the most important figures of the first half of the twentieth century. His achievements affected the fate of not only the Second Polish Republic creating its statehood at that time, but also the whole of Europe.
On the occasion of the forthcoming centennial anniversary of Poland’s independence and the 150th anniversary of the birth of the Marshal, the Józef Piłsudski Museum launched a competition for the development of a visual design concept of the permanent exhibition set up in the Manor House "Milusin" in Sulejówek.
Telling the life story of Piłsudski required the use of a wide range of means of expression. In addition, the challenge was to enter the exhibition space in the body of the building, i.e. a cuboid measuring 36 x 36 x 12 meters.
The narration presented in the concept was adapted to the nature of each successive episode of the exhibition protagonist’s biography. The interior and exhibition design was based on the idea of creating the museum space on a cruciform plan of the War Order of Virtuti Militari - the most important Polish military distinction resurrected upon the initiative of Piłsudski after regaining independence.
Our project was awarded second prize in the competition.
